The unusual amount of rain fall starting 2026 has caused wide spread chaos and disruption to building projects throughout the UK. Especially hit our the housing developers whom in recent years have been building new houses on cheaper green field locations located on flood plains or near to rivers.

Pressure on Contractors

There has been put a great deal of financial pressures on the sub contract companies supplying the workers on these projects keeping their staff  productive waiting for the grounds to dry up so work programmes can proceed.

The financial fall out of this wet weather will be felt throughout the coming months as contractors attempt to catch up on delayed work programmes

Construction in distress because of flooding

According Meteorological figures the start of 2026 has seen the most rainfall for the past 100 years.

The delay in work programmes are putting many construction firms into distress leaving them struggling to pay their bills.

With insolvency rates already on the rise, suppliers and builders merchants are also feeling the effects of the flooding, wet ground and rainfall.

Spring and the dry weather cannot come quick enough for the industry
